Basis of Design
In 2024, Contego partnered with leading architects, engineers, and specifiers on over 900 projects, featuring our “Basis of Design” IFRM through BSD SpecLink and AIA MasterSpec architectural platforms.
NFCA and ASTM
Contego was honored to join and actively participate in several technical and advisory committees within the National Fireproofing Contractors Association (NFCA) and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Through these collaborations, we are contributing to defining life safety standards and shaping the future of fire-resistant materials in building construction.

Research & Development
Contego made significant investments in research and development, constructing a state-of-the-art fire testing furnace in-house. This advanced facility enables testing in accordance with ASTM E119 and UL 263 standards, “Standard Methods of Fire Endurance Tests of Building Construction and Materials.”
New Design Listings
R&D innovations have allowed us to set a new water-based IFRM benchmark for ASTM E119 and UL 263 for 1, 1½, and 2-hour fire resistance design requirements on HSS rectangular, circular, and wide flange columns. We are leading the industry by optimizing DFT requirements, material efficiency, weight reduction, and expansion factors.
Certified Applicator Program
With 24 years of experience, Contego International has consistently prioritized technical support, estimation, and field services as our top commitments to serving our customers. Our goal is to empower them to make informed decisions, accurately bid projects, and properly apply Intumescent Fire-Resistant Materials (IFRM) in compliance with industry standards and building codes.
This year, we are proud to introduce our new Certified Applicator Program, designed to further enhance education and training for both new and experienced IFRM applicators. The program offers flexible training options, including online modules, in-house sessions, and on-site application training for our Contego HS RFB intumescent coating.
